A robust transmission

The Ford TorqShift SelectShift 6-Speed Automatic Transmission is designed for rugged commercial-duty applications. The SelectShift feature includes progressive range select (for overdrive lockout) plus full manual. The Tow/Haul Mode automatically compensates for grade and load conditions, delaying transmission upshifts to help reduce the frequency of gear hunting.

The Hill Start Assist system uses hydraulic brakes to keep the vehicle stationary on any incline. It will remain stationary for two seconds, giving the driver time to depress the gas pedal.

The traction control system uses sensors to detect the slightest loss of traction. It will then use reciprocal braking to maintain steering and ensure the vehicle stays on course.

To prevent the vehicle from sliding sideways, the electronic stability control system uses alternate braking after detecting a possible slide. It will keep the truck in a straight line.

Available on some versions only, this system can detect a vehicle or pedestrian in front of the truck. An audible and visual alert will be triggered, and the brakes will be pre-charged, increasing pedal sensitivity and reducing the braking distance required.
